Dekura – Second New AGPU Member in 2017

After already welcoming Bilcare Research, the PVC experts in Bonn have now confirmed the recycling company Dekura as the second new AGPU member in 2017. Dekura is a joint venture of Tönsmeier Kunststoffe and Rehau. It was founded in June 2016 and claims to be one of the market leaders in the field of PVC window recycling in Europe.

The company runs facilities at three locations in Germany and Austria and employs around 170 people. The Managing Director of Dekura is Stefan Valerius.

AGPU: New VinylPlus Communication Projects in 2017

AGPU will again run a number of different communication projects in cooperation with VinylPlus in 2017. At the end of last year, the PVC experts proposed three projects: creating and publishing articles on the topic of Green Public Procurement, organising and running a dialogue event with stakeholders on the topic of „sustainable development with PVC“ and continuing the successful „PVC Recyclers Meet PVC Processors“ series of events in cooperation with their partners from “Aktion PVC Recycling” campaign run by the German Association for the Recycling of PVC Floor Coverings (AgPR), ESWA/Roofcollect and Rewindo.

The joint project on „Guidelines on Recycling in Accordance with Waste Law and REACH“ will continue also in 2017. The leading body in this joint project is the Beteiligungs- und Kunststoffverwertungsgesellschaft mbH (BKV) with support from PlasticsEurope, AGPU, VinylPlus, the German Association of the Plastics Converters (GKV), the Qualitätsverband Kunststofferzeugnisse (QKE) and other stakeholders. AGPU coordinates the PVC topics involved in this project in its extended Recycling Working Group.

PVC Formulation 2017: AGPU Managing Director is attending as speaker

The „PVC Formulation 2017“ conference will take place in Düsseldorf from 27th February to 1st March 2017. One of the speakers at the international specialist conference, which will be attended by around 300 participants from the entire PVC industry, is the AGPU Managing Director Thomas Hülsmann. In his approximately 30-minute presentation, Hülsmann will discuss the current challenges involved in the use of PVC material and how the industry can further improve the perception of the material in the fields of politics and media and among decision-makers at companies.

The AGPU PVC Recycling Finder received another update

After the last major update of the PVC Recycling Finder at the beginning of last year, the website was yet again updated at the end of 2016. Alongside small adjustments such as changing the details of contacts, the update also involved the addition of further recycling companies to the AGPU directory. As a result, a total of 66 PVC recyclers are now listed on the website together with their products and services.

Ever since the PVC Recycling Finder was first created, the website has become increasingly popular, not only in terms of its number of visitor, but also with regard to the number of enquiries that are regularly answered by the recycling expert at the AGPU office.

Story of Success: 80 PVC Experts joined AGPU Workshop

The first joint PVC Workshop hosted by PlasticsEurope Germany and AGPU in the new year was again a complete success. After the networking dinner held by AGPU the evening before the event, the expert workshop provided its around 80 participants at the Collegium Leoninum hotel in Bonn with an abundance of fresh first-hand knowledge on current topics in the PVC industry.

The presentations made by the speakers at the event are available in the member area of the PVC WIKI. The next PVC Workshop will take place in Frankfurt on 20th June 2017.

VinylPlus announces exciting expert speaker line-up for VinylPlus Sustainability Forum 2017

VinylPlus has announced its programme with a host of prominent international speakers who will be exploring the key sustainability challenges for PVC at the fifth VinylPlus Sustainability Forum, taking place in Berlin, Germany on May 10th and 11th 2017. Organised by VinylPlus, the European PVC industry sustainability programme, this year’s forum will revolve around ‘Towards Circular Economy’ and explore the many growing opportunities for the industry to contribute to enhanced resource efficiency.

Against a backdrop of important decisions being taken on the European Commission’s Circular Economy Package, top-level speakers will be delivering keynote speeches and presentations alongside discussions on vinyl’s positive role in a future stronger circular economy. They include representatives spanning the EU institutions, the UN, academia, politicians, specifiers, designers and architects and all sectors of the PVC industry.

Bilcare: First New AGPU Member in 2017

In perfect timing with the start of the New Year, the PVC experts in Bonn are looking forward to welcoming Bilcare Research as the first new AGPU member in 2017. The internationally operating company manufactures high-quality rigid films made of PVC at two locations in Germany. According to Bilcare, companies from the pharmaceutical, food and packaging industries are among their about 2500 customers worldwide.

As a new AGPU member, Bilcare Research is another company in the PVC value chain to support the work carried out by AGPU and the working group’s commitment to sustainable PVC.

A Positive Growth Trend for PVC

The German plastics magazine „Kunststoff-Magazin“ recently produced „The Global Plastics Market“, a special publication focusing on PVC, in cooperation with the PVC manufacturer Vinnolit. The five-page-long article provides the latest figures on PVC production, the PVC applications of and the worldwide demand for PVC polymers. It reveals that PVC has continued to extend its growth on a global level, despite the fact that the European market is currently only experiencing restrained growth. The publication also claims that the plastic is becoming more and more environmentally friendly and benefiting from global trends, so much so that the global production capacity for PVC increased to 62 million tons in 2016.

Aktion PVC Recycling will attend 23rd Demolition Conference 2017

Europe’s largest specialist demolition event, the 23rd Demolition Conference, will take place in Berlin from 10th to 11th March 2017. More than 800 participants and 100 exhibitors attended this year’s event. In order to keep up with the growing popularity of the conference, the German Demolition Association (DA) as the organizer has decided to change the venue so that it can make the most of more space at future conferences.

As was the case in previous years, this year’s Demolition Conference will be accompanied by a trade exhibition. The joint stand run by Aktion PVC Recycling will yet again attend the exhibition with its experts in order to provide the conference participants with first-hand information on the recycling solutions for PVC flooring, windows, doors, roofing and waterproofing membranes and pipes available in Germany.
